- Must possess or be eligible for an Alaska Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in special education.
Note:
Specific certification endorsement, i.e., speech and language pathology, may be required depending upon position being filled. - Three (3) years of recent (within last five (5) years) successful special education experience. Experience in team decision-making.
- Must have skills for conflict resolution, research, problem solving, and critical thinking.
- Must possess knowledge of special education procedures, law, current best practice, Chapter 52 of Alaska School Laws and Regulations, and the Alaska State Special Education Handbook.
- Ability to work effectively with parents, teachers, principals, and district administrators.
The special education coordinator assists with the administration of special education programs in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. This position must possess the ability to communicate and work effectively with parents, principals, certified staff, classified staff, and district administration.
Compensation & Employment DetailsStarting Hourly Rate:
Grade 7: $80,517.42 - $ DOE
Work Day: 8 hours per day
Work Year: 12 months
