Overview
The College of Natural Science and Mathematics (CNSM) is seeking qualified adjunct instructors in Mathematics & Statistics. Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester‑by‑semester basis and may be called upon to teach face‑to‑face courses in Fairbanks, Alaska, or distance courses. Applicants should have strong quantitative skills and a passion for helping students succeed.
ResponsibilitiesProvide high‑quality instruction to undergraduate students in assigned mathematics or statistics courses. Mentor students to foster self‑motivation and guide them toward professional careers and public service. Assist with course preparation, grading, and the development of instructional materials.
Qualifications- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction; visa sponsorship not accepted.
- Strong quantitative skills and experience teaching mathematics or statistics.
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics strongly preferred.
- Related master’s degree may be considered if the applicant has at least 18 graduate credits in Mathematics or Statistics.
- Documented teaching experience, with college‑level teaching preferred. Experience teaching pre‑calculus, calculus, or distance courses is an advantage.
This part‑time, adjunct faculty position is a pooled opening. Salary is based on the number of credits taught and the degree held, and rates are above the minimum set in the collective bargaining agreement. The position may be canceled if the university’s needs change, and employment is at‑will. All successful applicants must complete a background check.
