The College of Indigenous Studies is seeking graduate students to fulfill a research or teaching assistantship for the academic year . Assignments are on a per semester basis. Multiple campuses (Bristol Bay, Chukchi, Kuskokwim, Northwest) may hire assistants to support sponsored projects or classroom needs. The position may be part-time or full-time, and incumbents will work with faculty and researchers on funded projects under the guidance of Principal Investigators.

Responsibilities

To thrive in this role the applicant should possess strong communication skills and be able to interact effectively with colleagues and customers. Attention to detail is required for tasks such as data entry and inventory management. A proactive problem‑solving mindset and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment are essential for meeting deadlines and achieving team goals.

The applicant should have an understanding of learning and creative processes and be familiar with Blackboard, Google Docs, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in a graduate program at the University of Alaska.
Position Details
  • Student pay is determined based on degree level. Master’s students are paid $25.17 hourly equivalent;
    PhD students $29.80 hourly equivalent.
  • This is a pooled position which remains open throughout the academic year.
