Overview
The College of Indigenous Studies is seeking graduate students to fulfill a research or teaching assistantship for the academic year . Assignments are on a per semester basis.
Assignments & LocationsThis position is unique, as multiple campuses—Bristol Bay, Chukchi, Kuskokwim, and Northwest—may hire graduate teaching/research assistants when needed to support sponsored projects or classroom work. The role may be part‑time or full‑time. Incumbents will collaborate with faculty and researchers actively conducting work in various disciplines, including one or more funded projects under Principal Investigators.
Responsibilities- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Attention to detail in tasks such as data entry and inventory management.
- Proactive problem‑solving and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of how learning and creative processes work.
- Knowledge and experience working with rural Alaska Native communities and cultures, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of individuals in various work settings.
- Good writing and editing skills, organizational skills, and familiarity with Blackboard, Google Docs, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in a graduate program at the University of Alaska.
- Student pay based on degree level:
Master’s students—$25.17 hourly equivalent;
Ph.D. students—$29.80 hourly equivalent. - The position remains open throughout the academic year.
