The UAF Student Activities Office is looking for energetic and creative students to assist in planning and implementing fun and exciting activities for other UAF students.
SAO Mission:
The Student Activities Office exists to enhance the experience of students at University of Alaska Fairbanks by giving them the opportunity to have fun outside the classroom, challenge them to try something new, and grow through new experiences and meeting new people. Community is built on shared experiences and growth, and we are supportive of the university and its mission while striving to give voice and strength to the students.
SAO Goals/Vision: SAO puts on events and programs that students want to attend, always serving a purpose – whether it is to allow students time to discover new interests, such as at an Open Mic Night, or to learn about climate change through a recycled art night. Find what you and other students are passionate about and run with it!
ResponsibilitiesAbility to work up to 20 hours per week, including evenings and some weekends. Telephone and interactive communication skills; organizational skills; familiarity with basic computer applications.
- Provide a favorable public impression in appearance and behavior; adapt to changing workloads; work independently with limited supervision while cooperating with other employees.
- Pay attention to detail, multitask, and handle difficult or stressful situations with diplomacy and finesse.
- Abide by all local and state laws and University regulations.
- Administrative support: data entry; answering phone calls; responding to emails; assisting in writing reports; maintaining the Nanook Engage page.
- Other duties as assigned: work closely with other areas within the Center for Student Engagement and collaborate with other campus and community partners.
Applicant must be enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student.
Position DetailsThis position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks. It is a Student Assistant 2 Position with a minimum starting pay of $16.00 per hour.
