Grader - Department of Mathematics and Statistics

Are you good at math or statistics? Are you willing to work with other students to help them understand it or to assist faculty with the homework for their class? Then consider working in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as a course grader.

This is a student job position – you must be a student at the University of Alaska in good standing taking a minimum of 6 credits for the Fall and/or Spring semester to apply for and work in this position.

Join the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as a math course grader. Graders work directly with faculty to assist with specific courses. Graders grade student homework, and may also be asked to write homework solutions, host office hours to answer graded homework questions, and answer student emails about graded homework. Coursework in statistics and/or upper‑level math and experience with computer‑based math programs are also preferred.

• Must have a 3.0 GPA in STEM‑based coursework.
• Must have passed the course or an equivalent course with a B or better grade.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and using written methods.
• Must be able to complete UA Tier 1 Required Trainings within 2 weeks of hiring date.
• Must be able to log hours daily in Trac Cloud and log hours during each pay period in UA Online.

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha campus in Fairbanks. This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year. Pay starts at $17.19/hr and for up to 20 hours per week; 10 hours per week per course, with additional hours dependent on course size. This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position only open to current UA students taking a minimum of 6 credits.
