Job Overview

The AI Literacy Peer Consultant supports fellow students in developing thoughtful, effective, and responsible habits around AI tools. Operating out of the Student Success Center in the Rasmuson Library, this role creates resources, facilitates conversations, and offers peer‑level guidance to help students build genuine AI literacy—balancing technical skill with the judgment to use AI responsibly.

Responsibilities
  • Develop instructional and outreach materials (guides, presentations, social media content) that promote AI literacy.
  • Facilitate conversations and peer‑level discussions to strengthen learning, uphold academic integrity, and prepare students for an AI‑integrated workplace.
  • Help students navigate varying AI policies across courses and instructors, ensuring all AI use aligns with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Apply the U.S. Department of Labor’s five key areas of AI literacy: understand AI principles, explore real‑world AI applications, direct AI through clear instructions, evaluate AI outputs for accuracy and appropriateness, and use AI responsibly for ethical practices.
  • Provide guidance and support independently on projects, managing tasks and timelines effectively.
Qualifications
  • Experience creating instructional or outreach materials such as guides, presentations, or social media content.
  • Familiarity with the institution’s academic integrity policies and the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Coursework or interest in education, communications, information science, ethics, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project‑management skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled UAF student in good academic standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Genuine interest in and experience with AI tools and their responsible use.
  • Comfortable presenting to or facilitating discussions with peers.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently on projects.
Position Details

This is a part‑time, student position. Compensation is based on experience. The role is a pooled position; applications are reviewed as needed. Employment is subject to a background check.
