Reference and Adult Services Librarian
Basic FunctionProvide reference service and library-related technology assistance to library patrons of all ages. SALARY: 13A
REPORTS TO:
Reference and Adult Services Librarian POSITIONS SUPERVISED:
None
1. Provide public assistance at the Reference desk and elsewhere as required.
2. Instruct and assist patrons in the use of library resources.
3. Assist patrons with use of computer and other reference equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited university/college.
2. Experience with personal computers and automated library systems.
3. Experience as a professional librarian preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Demonstrated ability in effective communication, both written and oral, with public and co-workers.
2. Familiarity with public library practices and principles. OTHER
1. This position requires a criminal background check.

Frequent business contact with other employees in own department; continuous public contact and frequent contact involving outside organizations/agencies. JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
Does not supervise; experiences minor problems daily and occasional major ones that must be resolved on own initiative with little immediate supervision; the consequences of error, carelessness or mistaken judgment require significant effort to recover. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
