The Teacher Apprenticeship Program is an
earn-while-you-learn, hands-on experience designed to help aspiring educators gain classroom experience, receive professional mentorship, and work toward earning their teaching credentials—all while making a difference in local schools.
Title: Teacher Apprentice
Location: Fairbanks North Star Borough School District in Fairbanks, Alaska
Start Date: To Be Announced (varies by position)
Hours: Includes on-the-job training and college coursework
Compensation: Paid apprenticeship while working for theFNSBSD
Plus: Tuition and fee assistance available through the University of Alaska Fairbanks
Who Should Apply?We're looking for individuals who:
- Current district employee in a student-facing position
- Interested in pursuing certification in elementary education, secondary education, or special education
- Meets UAF School of Education program qualifications, to include:
- Bachelor's degree attained, OR
- Currently enrolled education student at UAF with a minimum of approximately 78 credit hours toward an elementary or approximately 90 credits toward a secondary education degree
- Ability to balance full-time employment while taking college courses
- An employee the district is committed to retaining for employment through the 2-year apprenticeship, and ideally beyond.
