Operations and Training Manager

Responsibilities

As an Operations and Training Manager for the Fort Wainwright, Alaska (FWA) Mission Training Complex (MTC), you must be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Brigade and above level operational planning and exercise scenario development. You must possess expert knowledge and experience in Army operations and training. This includes a detailed understanding of current military doctrine, current tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and force structure to incorporate training units into an exercise.

Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the FWA MTC operations and training.

The Ops Manager will work closely with the MTC Government Operations POC and/or Director to ensure the MTC Government is kept informed of training and event support requirements, any potential changes to those requirements, and any conflicts with overlapping or simultaneous requirements.

Perform scheduling and coordination of MTC resources and the training request process.

The Ops Manager shall participate in and, when required, lead various operations and exercise updates and staff meetings.

Planned or participates, as directed, in Concept Development Conferences, Initial Planning Conferences, Mid Planning Conferences, Final Planning Conferences for Training Command assigned exercises.

Prepare briefings and other required materials. During event execution may serve as a member of EXCON Cell, Scenario Cell, or Observer Controller-Trainer Cell, as required.

Works in a highly intense information technology (IT) environment and is required to maximize the use of Mission Command Systems (MCS), other Battle Command Systems, training aids, devices, simulations and simulators (TADSS), mission specific digital systems/tools, and other available IT and AI assets in the conduct of mission support.

Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced professionals/contractors.

Perform other duties as required.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Education: BS/BA required; U.S. Army MEL IV qualified, equivalent ILE, or senior NCOES required.

The likely salary range for this position is $93,662 - $109,250. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
