JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Valve System (SVS) Technician supports the SVS Lead in performing monthly regulatory testing of Surface Safety Valves (SSVs), Subsurface Safety Valves (SSSVs), low‑pressure pilots, and Oil/Air (O/A) high‑pressure pilots throughout the Greater Kuparuk Area (GKA). All testing is conducted in accordance with Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) regulations and Conoco Phillips Alaska (COPA) Safety Valve System Management Program procedures.

Key responsibilities include conducting required valve testing, accurately documenting and verifying test results for regulatory compliance, and entering data into COPA systems for review and submission to the AOGCC. The SVS Technician also supports the COPA Maintenance Group by performing fluid level measurements to assist with reservoir pressure management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • SVS testing of all GKA wells;
    Secondary review with lead on Well TRAK / Spotfire / IP‑21.
  • Documentation and data entry of SVS component maintenance activities into COPA computer systems.
  • Strict compliance with AOGCC SVS regulations and COPA SVS Management Program procedures.
  • Computer skills. Able to use various data analysis tools to review and understand SVS program performance.
  • Communicate and coordinate with AOGCC State Inspectors, COP Operations / Production Engineer Specialist / Field Service Valve Crew for all SVS testing and preventative maintenance.
  • Write notifications and work orders using SAP.
  • Shut in and bring online production and injection wells during SVS testing.
  • Work involves performing routine tasks in cold temperatures and other environmental extremes. Vehicle Prep:
    Hydraulic Fluid Filling / Fuel / Equipment Inventory.
  • Needs to be able to work alone, self‑motivated with a positive attitude, great aptitude with strong leadership skills.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid (U.S issued) Driver’s License is required.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
  • The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience performing safety valve system testing, documenting and verifying test results, and maintaining regulatory compliance within an Oil and Gas production environment is required.
  • Experience with hydraulic pump truck operations, gas venting and flagging/tagging standards is required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of Safety Valve Systems (SVS), including Surface Safety Valves (SSVs), Subsurface Safety Valves (SSSVs), and the operation and function of low‑ and high‑pressure pilots, are required.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) is required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working as a Safety Valve System Technician specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environment is preferred.
