GVEA is an electric cooperative that owns and maintains 3,491 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, Clear Space Force Station, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, which extends from Homer to Fairbanks. As an Electrical Engineering Intern at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will play a crucial role in providing engineering services aimed at supporting the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of the GVEA system. This position typically works Monday - Friday up to 8 hours per day, not to exceed 30 hours per week. Hours are flexible around schooling commitments.

To thrive as an Electrical Engineering Intern at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates should demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, ideally achieving 75% completion of an ABET‑accredited BS degree. Proficiency in engineering software and tools is essential, enabling you to support various projects effectively. Additionally, possessing a valid Alaska driver's license is crucial for site visits and fieldwork. Successful interns will exhibit strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team‑oriented environment.

• 75% completion of an ABET accredited BS Electrical Engineering degree (A copy of transcripts are required to be submitted during application process)
