The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions is recruiting for a Mail Services Courier for the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Pick up mail and packages from US Postal Office and package center average mail count per day is 900 pieces. Bins weigh up to 50 pounds each.
- Date stamps all incoming mail with date received sort mail by inmate vs staff to distribute, x-ray, inspect, or scan.
- Receive outgoing mail from staff and inmates determine most cost-effective method for shipping option, affix appropriate postage.
- Maintain logs for all incoming and outgoing mail, postage meter, and input inmate postage charges onto the inmate accounts.

Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working in an office environment with other staff daily, with the potential of working around inmates.

Successful completion of the training plan developed for the Mail Services Trainee OR One year of work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform responsibly and independently.

Positions allocated to this class may operate motor vehicles and require the applicant to possess a valid Alaska driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
