Overview
Tanana Valley Clinic 1st Care, a walk-in medical clinic, is seeking an advanced practice provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join their highly experienced and growing team. The clinic is an ED-light setting that manages orthopedic injuries, minor traumas, acute and chronic illness, and pediatric complaints. On-site lab and radiology with access to an advanced imaging center support diagnostics. As the go-to community provider for walk-in care, each day offers new and challenging experiences.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced practice clinician care in a walk-in/ED-light clinic setting.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage a variety of health concerns including orthopedic injuries, minor traumas, acute and chronic illnesses, and pediatric complaints.
- Utilize on-site laboratory and radiology services; coordinate with the advanced imaging center as needed.
- Collaborate with a team of 11 providers who operate in a collegial and collaborative environment.
Foundation Health Partners is a community-owned and operated health system in Fairbanks, Alaska, comprised of three facilities including Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Tanana Valley Clinic, and Denali Center. The system is committed to treating the medical needs of everyone who comes through the doors and offers opportunities to collaborate with an extensive multidisciplinary health system and Mayo Clinic resources through partnerships.
Compensation and Benefits- Base salary plus production model; example: $135,000 base with an anticipated $110,000 to $123,200 in production pay, for an estimated total annual compensation between $245,164 and $258,364. Sign-on bonus of $40,000.
- Full employee benefits (medical, vision, dental, 401k).
- Schedule:
Three 12-hour shifts per week (156 shifts per year). No on-call duties. 7 weeks of Annual Time Off (ATO) and 2 weeks for CME. - Patients:
Average of 30 patients per day, ages 2 days to 99 years.
- Second largest city in Alaska with about 100,000 residents.
- Educational institutions:
University of Alaska Fairbanks and UAF Community & Technical College. - Military presence:
Ft. Wainwright Army Post & Eielson Air Force Base. - No state income tax and no sales tax.
Summer activities include the midnight sun, hiking, fishing, camping, and festivals. Winter activities include northern lights, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hockey, curling, ice fishing, and dog mushing.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Must be approved to practice by the State Joint Board on the Regulation of Physician's Assistants. NCCPA certification required.
- Exhibits an exemplary professional demeanor and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer applications and database management. Must have sufficient experience, confidence, and judgment to function with little outside direction.
- Ability to maintain CME currency as required to maintain NCCPA certification.
- Requires personal DEA license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred.
- ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and/or Neonatal Resuscitation certifications desirable.
