The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is recruiting for a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 1/2/3 located in Fairbanks! No Cover Letter Required!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 15/17/19.

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) 1/2/3, this position serves a general caseload of vocational rehabilitation consumers in both urban and rural areas, requiring rural travel by air up to four times per year to provide individualized and group services. The role also includes connecting consumers with appropriate employers whose job openings align with the consumers' skills and goals, as well as facilitating employment readiness and employer engagement groups.

Additionally, this position may manage a specialty caseload, such as serving individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing; ensuring accommodations and services are tailored to meet their unique vocational needs.

This position is essential within the Division and progression through the counseling series 1/2/3 is expected. Obtaining and/or maintaining a Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) is both required and supported by the Division.

The Fairbanks office operates Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 5:00pm, with flexibility within those hours and the possibility of telework at times.

This position requires travel by air and/or vehicle to rural communities for three days at a time, up to four times per year.

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Level 1: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and one year of paraprofessional or professional experience providing social assistance services to people with disabilities.

Or substitution:
Graduate education from an accredited college in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, social work, guidance counseling, special education, or a closely related counseling discipline will substitute for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Level 2: A master’s degree from an accredited college in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, social work, guidance counseling, special education, or a closely related counseling discipline.

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Level 3: A Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
