Petro 49, Inc. is looking for a positive and motivated Infrastructure Technician I to join our IT team. This role is ideal for someone with a foundational IT skillset who is ready to grow into infrastructure and systems administration. In this position, you will assist with server maintenance, backups, patch management, and IT projects while gaining hands‑on experience supporting enterprise infrastructure across multiple company locations throughout Alaska.

The role also includes supporting the Service Desk and assisting with escalated user issues. We’re looking for someone dependable who works well on a team and is interested in improving their skillset. This role goes beyond just answering tickets; you’ll be working hands‑on with different systems, contributing to IT projects and supporting the core IT operations for the company. This position is on‑site in Anchorage, with occasional travel to other company locations across Alaska.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Support:
    Assist with monitoring and maintaining servers, storage systems, and network equipment to ensure availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Service Desk Support & Escalation Assistance:
    Assist the Service Desk by responding to support tickets, handling assigned user issues, and working escalations that require infrastructure‑level investigation.
  • Account Management:
    Create, modify, and manage user accounts, permissions, and access in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and related systems under direction of senior IT staff.
  • Security & Compliance Support:
    Assist in maintaining infrastructure security controls and adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and IT best practices.
  • Project Assistance:
    Support senior IT staff on projects and system upgrades as assigned.
  • On‑Site Support:
    Travel to company locations within Alaska as needed to provide hands‑on IT assistance.
  • Continuous Learning:
    Stay current with industry trends and pursue relevant certifications to enhance technical skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Foundational knowledge of Windows Server environments and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, IP addressing, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with backup systems, patch management, endpoint security, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience provisioning and managing user accounts and access in Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to recognize when escalation is required.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical staff and non‑technical users.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and priorities in a production IT environment.
  • Willingness to travel to company locations as needed to support infrastructure and end‑user technology.
Qualifications
  • Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of professional IT experience (service desk, technical support, or similar roles).
  • Preferred:
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • CompTIA A+ or other relevant entry‑level IT certifications.

The scope of work may expand based on performance, demonstrated aptitude, and time in the position.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Comfortable working on computers and screens for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to travel by airplane and drive to remote company locations.
  • Regular attendance and availability during business hours are essential.
Work Environment
  • Standard office environment with occasional on‑site visits to company facilities.
  • Exposure to typical office equipment and ambient temperatures.
