Job Description
The Alaska Court System is seeking dependable and organized individuals to serve as bailiffs—an important role that supports the court’s mission of delivering fair and efficient justice. As a bailiff, you will be responsible for escorting jurors in and out of the courtroom before, during, and after trials, ensuring that jurors are not contacted or influenced by outside parties, coordinating meals, lodging and transportation for jurors when necessary, and accompanying them to meals and providing support for basic personal errands as needed.

- Escort jurors in and out of the courtroom before, during, and after trials.
- Maintain the integrity of the deliberation process by ensuring jurors are not contacted or influenced by outside parties.
- Coordinate meals, lodging, and transportation for jurors when necessary.
- Accompany jurors to meals and provide support for basic personal errands.
- Positions are on-call and temporary; may work multiple days in a row.
- Shifts may be as short as two hours or up to eight hours a day.
- There may be gaps of a week or two without a shift.
- May be called for consecutive‑day coverage.
- High school graduation or GED certificate.
- At least six months of responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to deal tactfully with the public.
