Automation Technician

Job Summary:

Assist with technical work in the administration, maintenance, and operation of SCADA and computerized distributed control systems with an emphasis on industrial data management and data engineering/analytics

Experience with AVEVA OSIsoft PI and GE Proficy Historian

System configuration / Prod historian configuration

Asset Framework models configuration and maintenance

Creates data pipelines and data integrations in databases, data warehouses and data lakes working with various cloud and on-premises technologies

Skilled at data movement (PCN to DMZ/Cloud), consolidating and cleansing the data

Coordinate and participate in the design, development and administration of standards and documentation for all SCADA configuration databases, applications programming, and core SCADA functions. Enforce adherence to corporate SCADA standards

Solid understanding of desktop computers, printers, and general office applications

Working knowledge of SCADA architecture design including control, measurement and safety systems for oil and gas production and pipeline facilities

Working knowledge of OT Cybersecurity

AVEVA OSIsoft PI architecture design and PI Interface connector configuration

GE Proficy Historian architecture design and PI Interface connector configuration

GE iFix architecture and data configuration

System Upgrades, OS patching, user training Data Engineering / Analytics

Able to use programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, R, Ruby, Scala and SQL to provide end-to-end data collection, intake and processing.

Able to use a cloud environment / architecture to structure and organize data for use in specific analytics applications.

Able to prepare data for machine learning platforms. Know how to deploy machine learning algorithms and gain insights from them.

Manage Internal and External resources to optimize field work processes, field process control and safety systems.

Work with field Technicians to troubleshoot and diagnose SCADA related problems.

Mentor and help train junior level staff through training and review of their work plans and system installs.

OT Cybersecurity certification preferred

Conduct feasibility studies, conduct site surveys and develop recommendations and cost estimates for the installation of new SCADA systems or for the upgrade of existing systems.

Working knowledge of Process Safety

Keep abreast of new SCADA related developments and technology in areas such as equipment,software, governmental regulations, advanced business applications, alternate site business recovery and communications.

Experience implementing networking solutions in industrial and automation environments

Experience with OT / Industrial networking solutions including routing and switching protocols

Set up and maintain computer and controller networks using Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, Device Net, HART and Control Net

Experience with implementing and maintaining OT Network Monitoring and Anomaly Detection systems

Familiar, or ability to learn, to develop new and modify existing HMI, PLC, and DCS systems(AVEVA, GE iFix, Rockwell, GE/Emerson, Modicon, Honeywell Experion, ABB 800xA)

Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with Siemens, Rockwell and Danfoss Soft Starters and Variable Frequency Drives.

Troubleshooting Rockwell Controll Logix hardware and configuration.

Five (5) or more years of SCADA or automation experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry, with a special emphasis in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Industrial Databases, and programming.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the company.
