Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for pre-season set up and testing of production machinery, maintain/repair production machinery during peak season and winterize machinery post production.
- Perform maintenance on Cutters, Fillers, Scale, Weigh Machines and conveyors in a safe and efficient manner while following established safety policies.
- Keep work area organized and free of clutter.
- Set or adjust filler weights to supplied specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled and work closely with maintenance team members to minimize downtime.
- Work with QA department to ensure fill quality is met.
- Ensure machinery is ready and properly lubricated at the start of every work period.
- Maintain written log of work performed.
- Work closely with rest of maintenance department to achieve goals.
- Install new parts and equipment as required.
- Track inventory throughout season and submit the final end-of-season parts order.
- Perform constant checks of machinery and equipment during production to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Work collaboratively with production managers and leads to maximize production.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Bending, kneeling, squatting and standing are required for 7 days/week up to 18 hours a day.
- Ability to professionally communicate with a diverse background of fellow employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years working with cutter, fillers or comparable equipment.
- Able to work in remote and diverse environment.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to work overtime when required.
- Must be able to work 7 days a week for entirety of season.
- While performing the duties of this Job, you will be regularly exposed to wet, cold or humid conditions and at times exposure to extreme cold. There is the occasional exposure fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery and forklift traffic.
Demands
While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. You will occasionally be required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
You may occasionally be required to climb or balance.
It is required that you be able to see, talk and hear; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must be capable of working long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time. Shifts typically range from 12-17 hours with periodic breaks based on work demands, plant production, buying schedules, fish volumes and employee travel schedules.

While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to use teamwork and interpersonal skills. You will occasionally perform basic math and read, speak, write and need to understand English.
