We care for medical surgical patients who could have a wide range of diagnoses: congestive heart failure, respiratory conditions, infections, wounds, orthopedic surgery, spinal surgery, urological surgery, general surgery, dialysis, oncology, hospice, and more.

- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice.
- Accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under direction.
- Utilize specialized knowledge to assess data and plan appropriate care for assigned patients.
- Review patient history and physical with patient/family; ensure completion within appropriate timeframe.
- Review diagnostics, laboratory data; report abnormal results to physician(s).
- Formulate a plan of care, including discharge plan, using assessment data and patient/family input.
- Initiate a plan of care based on patient‑specific needs and medical plan of care.
- Set realistic measurable goals in collaboration with patient/family.
- Plan care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team; revise plan as patient needs change.
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health‑care team activities.
- Provide care based on physician orders and nursing plans.
- Delegate appropriately and supervise care provided by other licensed nurses and personnel.
- Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan as needed.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record.
- Provide care based on best evidence; may participate in research activities.
- Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and education of personnel.
- Promote/support growth of others by acting as preceptor or mentor when appropriate.
- Contribute to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes and participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators.
- In some roles, may supervise staff and workflow of the department.
- Full‑Time – 36 hours per week, 12‑hour shifts:
Day shift/every other weekend off - Full‑Time – 36 hours per week, 12‑hour shifts:
Night shift/every other weekend off - Shift differentials available: $2.00/hr weekend – $2.50/hr evening – $6.00/hr night

- Must possess a valid current or temporary Alaska RN license.
- Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by an Associate's degree in nursing.
- BLS certification is required; may require ACLS, PALS, or additional certification and/or continuing education based on area of practice.
- Requires creative thinking, prioritizing, and flexible problem‑solving skills.
- Requires ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
- Experience working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.
