Job Responsibilities- Assists with the construction and repair of playground equipment, fences, flowerbeds, picnic tables, benches, signs, boardwalks, and other park amenities.
- Uses power tools and equipment to repair turf, mow grass, cut weeds, maintain trails, and clear brush.
- Plants seeds, bulbs, fertilizes, prunes, and water park and garden areas.
- Performs trash and litter pickup and collection duties.
- Loads and unloads materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Assists in conversion support for special events.
- Performs heavy manual work as assigned for extended periods under adverse weather conditions.
- Operates large mowers, small tractors, and other motorized equipment related to park maintenance.
- Performs routine restroom maintenance and other custodial duties.
- On an occasional basis, perform work responsibilities of other parks maintenance positions.
Ordinary business contact with employees in own division and infrequent public contact.
Job ResponsibilityDoes not supervise; performs mostly routine duties with a few minor problems that must be resolved on own initiative with little immediate supervision; the consequences of error, carelessness or mistaken judgment require normal effort to recover.
Work EnvironmentShop area where conditions are pleasant; varied outdoor work sites with disagreeable conditions with undesirable elements or factors on a somewhat continuous basis; up to 3/4 of time spent standing or walking; minor accident/hazard risk; requires sustained periods of heavy lifting, pushing or pulling (50+ lbs.); a full range of body movement to include crouching, stopping, stretching, and the ability to carry equipment up/down stairs.
This position falls under the Borough’s Blood Borne Pathogen (BBP) Exposure Control Program as it is reasonably anticipated that infrequent exposure to blood or other bodily fluids may occur while performing some job duties.
