Overview
The Military Health and Readiness Consortium (MiHRC) within the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking a full‑time Research and Project Director to oversee the coordination and execution of research activities focused on suicide prevention within the defense community. MiHRC collaborates with partners across Alaska’s defense community, including the 11th Airborne Division, the Alaska National Guard, and the U.S. Coast Guard Arctic District.
ResponsibilitiesAs Research and Project Director, you will be the principal operations manager for project research activities. Your responsibilities include coordinating research efforts among collaborators; contributing to study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting; assisting with the preparation of scientific manuscripts; preparing and tracking human subjects protection approvals; ensuring compliance with human subject protection authorities; managing research data and safeguarding procedures; assisting with recruitment and enrollment of research participants;
coordinating large‑scale data collection activities; tracking project milestones and deliverables; organizing partner meetings and project logistics; maintaining communication with project stakeholders; and supporting outreach efforts to increase awareness of MiHRC activities across Alaska and the University of Alaska system.
Minimum qualifications:
a Master’s degree in a relevant field and at least two years of postgraduate research experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired experience working with military or first responder communities and conducting health‑related research.
This position is located on the Troth Yeddah campus in Fairbanks and is a full‑time exempt staff position. The salary is competitive and the benefits package includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
This position may require travel within and outside Alaska.
