Position: INE Fall 2026 Graduate Research Assistant

The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) contributes to the research, scholarly, and creative mission of the department while advancing their own academic and professional goals. Working under the guidance of a faculty mentor or principal investigator, the GRA participates in research activities that may include conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, performing laboratory or field work, maintaining research records, and assisting with publications, presentations, and grant‑related activities.

This position provides graduate students with the opportunity to develop technical expertise, strengthen critical thinking and analytical skills, and gain hands‑on experience in the research process within their field of study. Successful candidates will demonstrate curiosity, initiative, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of research integrity and professionalism while contributing to collaborative research efforts.

Successful Graduate Research Assistants are curious, self‑motivated, and eager to contribute to meaningful research and scholarly activities within their field of study. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while balancing research responsibilities with graduate coursework. Thriving in this role requires effective communication, organization, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.

Successful candidates are adaptable, willing to learn new techniques and methodologies, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and research integrity. A proactive approach and enthusiasm for discovery will contribute to both personal academic growth and the success of the research program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Awarded a bachelor's degree and pursuing a graduate degree at UAF
  • Enrolled at a minimum of 9 credits per semester
  • GPA of at least 3.0 or higher
Position Details

This position is a part‑time exempt student position. New hires will be placed on the appropriate graduate salary schedule based on the degree program you are enrolled in (Masters or Ph.D). This is a pooled position and will remain open for the Fall 2026 semester. A department will hire on an as needed basis. Submissions of an application does not guarantee a review or job offer.
