Research Assistant/Associate
The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) actively recruits graduate students for research assistantship positions throughout the academic year. These temporary appointments are made on a per-semester basis and offer an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic and collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities- Provide research support to faculty and students as assigned by individual departments.
- Perform data collection, analysis, and documentation with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Engage effectively with colleagues and faculty, demonstrating strong communication skills.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines and contribute to shared goals.
- Adapt to changing tasks, learn new skills, and maintain high standards of performance.
- Support curriculum or research design and give assistance to graduate research candidates.
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree and currently pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF).
- OR earned a Master’s degree and currently pursuing a PhD degree at UAF.
- Demonstrated proactive problem‑solving skills and strong communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance.
- Foundational understanding of learning, research, or creative processes.
- Located on the UAF campus in Fairbanks.
- Flexible on‑site work arrangements may be considered as the research assignment(s) permit.
- Part‑time during the school session; additional hours available during breaks or when school is not in session.
- Term‑funded exempt student position, union represented (AGWA/UAW).
- New hires placed on the graduate student pay schedule accordingly.
- Job pool remains open over the academic year 2026‑2027 and closes June
30,2027 at 11:59p.m. Alaska Standard Time.
