Position: Community Service Officer (CSO)- UAF Police Department

Overview

Community Service Officers (CSOs) are part‑time student employees responsible for patrolling campus buildings and grounds, securing rooms and laboratories, and providing security escorts and vehicle assistance as needed. CSOs support sworn police officers with non‑confrontational duties.

Responsibilities
  • Patrol campus buildings and grounds.
  • Secure rooms and laboratories.
  • Provide security escorts and vehicle assistance.
  • Support sworn police officers with various non‑confrontational duties.
  • Serve as first point of contact for visitors at the UAF Police Department.
  • Interact with students, faculty, and staff throughout shifts.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be a current UA student, enrolled in 6 credit hours, and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License with at least three years of good driving history.
  • Must successfully complete the training program and obtain state of Alaska APSIN clearance within 30 days of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship or legal permission to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
  • Good communication and observational skills; strong sense of community for UAF and Fairbanks.
Position Details

Location:

Troth Yeddha’ campus, Fairbanks. Pay: $16.20 per hour (Student Assistant 2, step 19). Wages may increase after a full semester and completion of training.
