Sandvik Mining Field Service Technician – Fairbanks, AK

Overview

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician for the Fairbanks, AK area. The role requires a strong mechanical or electrical background with solid diagnostic skills and opportunities to work with underground and surface mining equipment, on diesel trucks, load and haul systems, hydraulics, engines and electrical components. The field position primarily serves the Fairbanks market with a mine site in Delta Junction and involves travel and on-site work at customer sites.

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and/or electrical aspects of underground mining equipment (load & haul) and related components at high-profile mining sites.
• Perform new equipment commissioning and provide training at customer sites with minimal supervision.
• Inspect equipment for proper performance, diagnose faults, and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and stay current with industry, customer, product developments and best practices.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain compliance with Sandvik, customer, state, and federal safety policies and requirements.
• Ensure customer satisfaction within the area of primary responsibility.

The Field Service Technician will spend time both underground and on the surface, and candidates must be comfortable with these conditions. This role requires approximately 50% travel; a company vehicle will be provided.

• Attributes of a safety champion, capable of working alone and stopping work if required.
• Excellent troubleshooting ability with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Conformance to ISO standards.

• Technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields or equivalent years of professional field/technical experience with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience.
• Technical experience to include diesel and high voltage electrical systems.
• Successful in team environments with excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a track record of customer satisfaction.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret equipment schematics.

• Experience with both internal and external customers.
• Flexibility in the workplace.

Travel:
At least 50% of the time, via truck or air, with extensive training travel.

Compensation Range: $42.00 to $45.00/hour.

Schedule and hours will vary.

Must have the legal right to work in the United States on an indefinite basis without employer sponsorship.
