Facilities Services - Temporary Trades

The Temporary Trades position will work under general supervision, may routinely perform a variety of skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks in a variety of trades requiring at least apprentice level skills, or tasks within a specialized trade requiring journeyman level skills.

This position is represented by the Alaska Higher Education Crafts & Trades Employees (L6070).

Positions are hired on an as‑needed basis, determined by the Division of Maintenance hiring authority.

• Journeyman level certification, if applicable, in the craft or trade duties being performed.
• Possess specialized licenses within appropriate field; including a commercial driver’s license, automotive and/or medium/heavy truck service excellence certification, inspector certifications, state fire systems permit, Certificate of Fitness Asbestos Abatement, etc.

A minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

May possess journeyman level certification. Requires apprentice level or other equivalent certification appropriate to the specific trade; with a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
