Facilities Electrician

We're looking for a Facilities Electrician who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality work, and knows that keeping the lights on is serious business (even if we have fun doing it). You'll troubleshoot electrical systems, chase down stubborn breaker trips, install and maintain lighting and controls, work indoors and outdoors, and support classrooms, labs, offices, and specialized systems across campus.

There's no shortage of work here, but the upside is a steady, in-town schedule with real variety from day to day. If you value safety, communicate well, and appreciate clean panels, tight terminations, and thoughtful troubleshooting, you'll feel right  you're ready to plug into a team that powers learning and research every day, we'd love to hear from you. This position may be filled at the CT2 or CT3 level, depending on the selected candidate's experience.

To thrive in this role, you'll be a skilled electrician who enjoys troubleshooting complex electrical systems and takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality work. You'll have two or more years of journeyman electrician experience, preferably with experience on large construction sites, and hold a valid State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness along with a Journeyman Electrician certification (or equivalent). Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety while working independently and collaboratively across a variety of campus environments.

Excellent communication and customer service skills will help you build positive relationships with campus partners as you maintain and improve critical electrical systems. A valid Alaska driver's license with a clean driving record is required, and maintaining driving eligibility is a condition of employment. If you enjoy hands-on work, continuous learning, and knowing your work directly supports the students, faculty, staff, and research that power UAF every day, you'll fit right in.

Minimum Qualifications:

All positions require a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Alaska drivers license with a clean driving record, meeting University of Alaska safe driving standards.

CT2:
State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness Journeyman level Electrician certification or or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proof of a valid driver's license must be presented at time of hire. Maintaining this license is a condition of employment.

CT3:

State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness Master level or equivalent Electrician certification or a minimum of 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proof of a valid driver's license must be presented at time of hire. Maintaining this license is a condition of employment.
