Field Service Technician – Fairbanks, AK

About the Role

Sandvik Mining is looking for a Field Service Technician in Fairbanks, AK. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical components of underground mining equipment, primarily diesel trucks, load and haul systems. The role requires downtime for training, commissioning new equipment, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical aspects of underground mining equipment and components at high‑profile mining sites.
• Commission new equipment and provide training at customer sites with minimal supervision.
• Work primarily in Fairbanks, AK, including facilities at Delta Junction, with underground and surface operations.
• Focus on diesel trucks, load and haul - hydraulics, engine, and electrical systems.
• Inspect equipment for proper performance, determine faults, and repair or replace defective parts or systems according to scopes of work.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with industry, customer, product developments, and technical best practices.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and satisfaction.
• Comply with all Sandvik, customer, state, and federal regulatory safety policies.
• Comfortable working underground and on the surface, as required by the role.

• Technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields, or equivalent professional field experience, with a minimum of 7 years industry‑related experience.
• Technical experience including diesel and high‑voltage electrical systems.
• Success in team environments with excellent communication skills.

Location:

Fairbanks, AK.

At least 50% travel (by truck or air). A company vehicle will be provided.

Salary: $42.00 to $45.00 per hour.

Schedule and hours will vary.
