Overview
Job description for a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 1/2/3 located in Fairbanks. This recruitment is exempt from the Hiring Freeze (Administrative Order 358). No Cover Letter Required. This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 15/17/19.
What You Will Be DoingAs a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) 1/2/3, this position serves a general caseload of vocational rehabilitation consumers in both urban and rural areas, requiring rural travel by air up to 4 times per year to provide individualized and group services. The role also includes connecting consumers with appropriate employers whose job openings align with the consumers skills and goals, as well as facilitating employment readiness and employer engagement groups.
Additionally, this position may manage a specialty caseload, such as serving individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing; ensuring accommodations and services are tailored to meet their unique vocational needs.

Benefits of Joining Our TeamThis position is essential within the Division and progression through the counseling series 1/2/3 is expected. As such, obtaining and/or maintaining a Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) is both required and supported by the Division.
The Fairbanks office operates Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 5:00pm, with flexibility within those hours and the possibility of telework at times.
The Working Environment You Can ExpectThis position is located in the Fairbanks office with approximately eleven to thirteen employees at any given time. You will have autonomy in scheduling your day and managing your workflow as you progress through training.
This position requires travel by air and/or vehicle to rural communities for 3 days at a time, up to 4 times per year.

Minimum QualificationsVocational Rehabilitation Counselor Level 1: A bachelor s degree from an accredited college and one year of paraprofessional or professional experience providing social assistance services to people with disabilities. Or substitution:
Graduate education from an accredited college in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, social work, guidance counseling, special education, or a closely related counseling discipline will substitute for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).
