Protective Service Specialist 1/2

The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for full-time Protective Service Specialist 1/2 in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Protective Services Specialist in the licensing unit (formerly CCLS) needs to be a skilled and motivated individual able to recruit, support, assess, investigate, and license individuals across the state of Alaska to provide critically important foster care for Alaska's children.

They will actively recruit and support resource families to establish positive and nurturing home environments for the healthy development of children. They will also license and investigate Child Placement Agencies across the state.

This position provides a variety of responsibilities in an energetic, professional office environment, working with an experienced licensing team. Your first twelve months in the agency are probationary and considered a training period, with formal virtual training, on-the-job training with your supervisor, and with other colleagues.

Working environment you can expect:
This position is located in Fairbanks, where the incumbent will work as part of a unit of 5 licensing workers in the Northern Regional Office. Some travel is required for this position, including travel to remote locations via small aircraft, snow machine, 4-wheeler, boat, or skiff, with limited accommodations for extended periods.
