Job Description

Qavvik Air is a dedicated provider of critical air transportation services as well as robust charter service in Alaska.

Flight Dispatchers play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and successful operation of aircraft missions. As the first point of contact for communication and coordination of flight resources and monitoring of flight operations from start to finish. Additionally, the Flight Dispatcher supports administrative tasks such as logging flight data, assisting flight crews and communicating with passengers when necessary.

This position requires the ability to communicate clearly under pressure, make informed logistical decisions, and maintain full situational awareness throughout a medevac mission or charter. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where precision, empathy, and critical thinking are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Preform Flight Planning, to include W&B and weather analysis in accordance with company GOM.

  • Receive and process medevac requests from hospitals, clinics, or agencies.

  • Process and execute charters per charter hand-off procedure from the business desk.

  • Communicate effectively with medical teams, pilots, hospitals, and other medevac dispatch centers.

  • Communicate with Charter/Cargo Customer’s and/or Passengers.

  • Maintain real-time situational awareness across all ongoing flights and operations.

  • Coordinate multiple mission requests.

  • Follow standardized protocols and checklists for consistent, safe response.

  • Document all communications, decisions, and mission data for compliance and reporting.

  • Facilitate time-sensitive "go/no-go" decisions at the direction of pilots and management (Operational Control / Medical Admin On-Call), factoring in weather, mechanical issues, and crew status.

  • Handle multiple tasks independently, with minimal supervision, prioritizing and completing tasks with high attention to detail.

  • Navigate FAA regulations and ensure all procedures meet compliance standards.

  • You’ll be in constant coordination with:

  • Flight medical crews (flight nurses, paramedics).

  • Management (Aviation Operational Control / Medical Admin On-Call).

  • Charter Passengers / Cargo Customers.

  • Pilots and aviation support staff.

  • Hospital staff, clinic providers, and rural health aides.

  • Other medevac companies and dispatch centers.

  • Other duties as assigned and qualified for.

Qualifications
  • FAA Licensed Airfract Dispatcher Certificate or able to obtain within 90 days of hire

  • Strong understanding of Weight and Balance, NOTAMS, Flight Planning and Weather Analysis

  • Familiar iwth FAR Part 135 Regulations

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Strong Multitasking skills and communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations

  • Critical thinking and decision-making under time constraints.

  • Familiarity with Alaskan geography is high desirable

  • Proficiency with technology, including CAD systems and phones.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Valid Drivers license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NANA's vehicle insurance policy.

  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside with occasional assistance outside, where individuals may be exposed to inclement weather.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere. When assisting with work outside, there will be moderate to high noise levels.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment with occasional outside work.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
