The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities and Fairbanks International Airport's Airfield Maintenance section is looking for an Equipment Operator 2 (Seasonal) to help Keep Alaska Moving.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you will be doing: In this role, you will provide vital support by operating heavy equipment to keep airport runways, taxiways, and roads clear and safe, especially during winter conditions. As an important part of our Airfield Maintenance team you’ll perform pavement and facility maintenance, support construction projects, and respond to emergencies to ensure Fairbanks International Airport remains fully operational and compliant with FAA standards.

Qualifications and RequirementsAt time of interview, applicants are requested to provide: Current CDL with endorsements. Alaska residency is required. Check residency definitions to determine qualification.
Supplemental Questions and SecuritySUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS: This recruitment uses a supplemental questionnaire as part of the application process. The answers determine which applicants advance to the interview phase.
AIRPORT SECURITY BADGE: Candidates must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with TSA regulations, which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check and a comprehensive background investigation, along with a TSA Security Threat Assessment.
COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE
REQUIRED:
This position requires a Class A Alaska CDL with endorsements; candidate must register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse and consent to review driver information. CDL requirements include example terms about endorsements and timelines. A conditional hire may be given to obtain certain endorsements within a specified period and sign an agreement as a condition of employment.
- Note: A Class A CDL with N-Tanker endorsement is required at time of hire. If conditional hire is used, the endorsement must be obtained within 90 days of hire and compliance agreed to as a condition of employment.
DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY: Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy. Start in a CDL position only after confirmation of pre-employment drug testing. Violations will be recorded in the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse.
EDUCATION: Education must be verified to meet minimum qualifications. If no degree, indicate units completed. Transcripts may be required and may be attached at application or provided at interview.
