JOB SUMMARY
The Airport Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for assisting in the planning and coordination of daily workloads, executing assigned projects, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the heavy equipment fleet. This role involves maintaining airport runways and aircraft support, including winter maintenance such as snow removal on runways and apron, and material handling within the Kuparuk field.
A valid U.S. issued, Alaska-compliant Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with both Tanker and Hazmat endorsements and a DOT Medical Card are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- This position reports directly to the Roads & Pads Foreman.
- Operate apron, road, and runway maintenance and repair equipment to specified aviation criteria, including snow removal.
- Support aircraft with loading and unloading baggage, deicing, and fueling.
- Operate Kuparuk’s fleet of heavy equipment safely and proficiently.
- Maintain logs, records, and timecards.
- Monitor equipment operation, perform pre‑operation inspections, identify malfunctions, fill out maintenance requests, and clean equipment.
- Inspect, adjust, and perform minor equipment repairs.
- Help prepare and maintain inventory of supplies, PPE, equipment, and tools.
- Adhere to safety and environmental priorities and support AES zero‑incident safety culture.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.
- Ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 or 3x3 rotation.
- At least three years of experience operating listed equipment as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
- Four or more years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator in an airport, petrochemical, oil and gas industry, North Slope, or other Arctic environment.
- Current OSHA Trenching and Excavation Certification.
