Fuel Delivery Driver
This position is represented by Teamsters Local 959 and is governed by the terms and conditions of the current collective bargaining agreement between Sourdough Fuel and Teamsters Local 959.
Under the general supervision of the Sourdough Fuel General Manager and Driver Foreman, the Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional fuel delivery service while maintaining a high standard of customer service. Drivers interact with both internal and external customers by phone, radio, and in person to ensure a positive customer experience.
The primary responsibility of this position is the safe and timely delivery of fuel to residential, commercial, and industrial customers throughout Fairbanks, North Pole, and the surrounding areas.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned tanker, trailer, and equipment to ensure safe operating condition.Comply with all applicable DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.Safely load, transport, and unload fuel products in accordance with company procedures and training.Maintain regular communication with dispatch regarding delivery status, routing, and any operational issues.Deliver fuel to residential, commercial, military, and retail customers throughout the service area.Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs as needed and report mechanical issues promptly.Complete all deliveries safely, professionally, efficiently, and courteously while providing excellent customer service.Accurately complete all required delivery, inspection, and regulatory documentation.Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance of assigned equipment and work area.Leadership Competency Requirements For Individual Contributor Level:

Education and/or
Experience:
Must possess a valid Alaska Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (Class A CDL is preferred), a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate, and a clean driving record.Must be able to safely operate a fuel delivery truck and associated equipment.Experience handling and transporting petroleum products and other hazardous materials is preferred.Previous heating oil or petroleum delivery experience is preferred but not required.Working knowledge of Fairbanks, North Pole, and surrounding areas, including residential and commercial delivery locations, is preferred.Must be familiar with applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), DOT requirements, and state and federal trucking regulations.Must successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings, including a DOT physical, drug and alcohol testing, and any other applicable background requirements.Must be able to work safely in extreme weather conditions, including temperatures ranging from
-50°F to
-65°F.Must demonstrate strong customer service skills and maintain a professional, courteous demeanor when interacting with customers and coworkers.Must be adaptable, dependable, and able to work independently while managing changing schedules and priorities.Must be able to accurately complete required paperwork, maintain daily fuel inventory records, and communicate clearly in both written and verbal…
