Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer

Location:

Dayton, OH

Salary Range: $86,100.00 - $ per year plus bonus

Your Challenge
  • Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.
  • Provide system architecture definition based on required functionality.
  • Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes.
  • Write requirements.
  • Analyze requirements and develop design alternatives.
  • Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems.
  • Design, develop and test new embedded software.
  • Support and enhance existing embedded hardware and software.
  • Apply established development processes and assist in process improvement.
  • Develop test software and procedures.
  • Generate complete and accurate user and design documentation.
  • Perform/coordinate various analyses in support of detailed design of components, major assemblies, software and systems.
  • Lead architecture, design and code reviews.
  • Review and validate software releases.
  • Provide input and evaluation of new technologies and products.
  • Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses.
  • Provide task breakdowns and accurate estimates for project planning.
  • Provide mentoring for junior staff.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere within the team.
  • Liaise with customers.

  • Well-versed in the latest rugged/embedded technologies commonly utilized in the defense/aerospace industry.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively resolve complex engineering problems.
  • Solid communication, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think outside the box and systematically deal with highly dynamic engineering situations.
  • Strong debug/integration/troubleshooting experience—act as a leader and sounding board for the department.
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Experience

Bachelors in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent) with minimum 5 years’ experience.

  • Embedded Hardware knowledge and experience with processor systems (Intel, ARM, PIC, Atmel, NXP).
  • Strong knowledge of hardware interfaces and buses like Ethernet, PCIe, PCI, Fibre Channel, I2C, SPI, USB.
  • Programming.
  • Linux OS distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
  • Boot loader technology such as BIOS and UBoot.
  • Software configuration management tools (git, svn, cvs).
  • Software defect tracking tools (JIRA, Redmine, Bugzilla).
  • Software debugging tools (gdb).
  • Test methodologies.
  • Scripting tools and languages.
  • Reading/understanding IC datasheets, board schematics.
  • Diagnostic tools like Digital Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, DVMs, etc.
  • Software project management.
  • FPGA development using hardware descriptor languages such as Verilog or VHDL.
  • Hardware design with Altium.
  • Cybersecurity and NIAP Common Criteria.
