Police Officer
Under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant the Police Recruit will attend peace officer basic training program that meets the requirements of Ohio Revised Code Section 109.77 for Peace Officer Certification. Performs other work as requested.

Required Qualifications- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency.
- Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License.
- No felony convictions.
- Be 21 years of age at time of appointment.
- Be in the process of obtaining a State of Ohio Certification as a Police Officer.
- Application, background check, departmental interview, and pre-employment polygraph.
Ability to complete physical fitness test and meet OPOTA’s physical fitness standards.
Academic RequirementsAbility to maintain passing grades in course curriculum including:
Administration, Legal, Human Relations, Firearms, Driving, Subject Control Techniques, First Aid/CPR/AED, Patrol, Civil Disorders, Traffic, Investigation, Physical Conditioning, Homeland Security, Use of Taser/ASP/O.C., Single Officer Response to an Active Shooter, and other courses as required.
Ability to maintain attendance per academy regulations.
CertificationAbility to successfully complete basic academy and passing grade on state certification examination.
