Patient Access Associate Specialist

Perform admitting duties for patients admitted for hospital services
Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity and compliance checks
Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
Receive and process physician orders and utilize an overlay tool
Operate the telephone switchboard and relay calls
Meet point-of-service collection goals
Conduct account audits and use quality auditing and reporting systems
Pre-register patient accounts and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information
Collect point-of-service collections and past-due balances, including payment plan options
Explain consent and patient education forms and obtain required signatures
Review insurance eligibility and select applicable plan codes
Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms

• 1+ years of customer service experience
• Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
• High School Diploma/GED required
• CRCR required within 6 months of hire
• Must be able to work on-site at Mercy - Dayton Springfield Emergency Center in Fairborn, OH
• Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States

Demonstrates expertise in patient admission processes, insurance verification, and compliance checks while effectively managing point-of-service collections and utilizing quality auditing systems. Strong ability to communicate patient instructions and handle sensitive information with accuracy and professionalism.
