Consistent with our Leadership Accountabilities, the Manufacturing Engineer is accountable to establish and maintain process recipes for operating lines in order to safely produce products that consistently meet codes, specifications, and customer requirements at the lowest cost. The Manufacturing Engineer is accountable to continuously improve the glass making process to eliminate waste, improve safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the product.

Job Responsibilities- Live the OC Safety and Sustainability stands, adhere to the safety responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain procedures related to the technical operation of Fore hearths, production lines and all packaging areas to ensure employee safety.
- Develop risk assessments for critical tasks.
- Implement a personal safety action plan and review with leader.
- Safety metrics: RIR, first aid, near misses, SAFE and Critical 6.
- Leader Safety Standard Work and Hazard .
The Manufacturing Engineer will have responsibility for:
- Identifying, understanding, and teaching others the Critical Product Characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality product, including packaging.
- Developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Supporting experiments or trials for new and existing products and packaging to ensure they meet our customer's fitness for use.

The Manufacturing Engineer will have responsibility for:
- Conducting process audits to review Critical Product Characteristics and Critical Process Variables and implementing sustainable corrective actions for process shifts or upsets.
- Determining process consistency and capability (Cpk).
- Implementing control charting schemes for Critical Process Variables based on ISBMS and S&T specifications.
- Developing and implementing Operator Control Plans to ensure that all products meet specifications at the lowest cost.
- Identifying and eliminating common causes of product, packaging, and process variation (troubleshooting).
- Analyzing product and process data, providing feedback and making recommendations to optimize performance.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices. Improvements may originate from S&T, ISBMS, or other facilities.
- Implementing corrective actions for issues surfaced through quality complaints, hold tags, and process deviations.
- Coaching, counseling, and training all employees on process control.
- Establishing processes for all critical tasks and audit for adherence and compliance.
- Partnering with maintenance and operations to resolve equipment issues.
- Developing reaction procedures for the elimination or minimization of process deviations.
- Identifying and requesting capital funding for equipment, modifications, etc.

The Manufacturing Engineer will have responsibility for:
- Educating primary employees in the manufacturing process and process control procedures.
- Partnering with employees (salaried and hourly) to develop and implement Operator Control Plans.
- Partnering with Maintenance and operation staff to develop and implement Operator Based Care plans for equipment to ensure employee understanding and ownership using the principles of TPM.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing or technical environment
- Completion of an engineering related Development Program or similar experience preferred
- Understands customer needs, product specifications, basic cost drivers and the Critical Process Variables (CPVs) that impact these elements
- Understands and works with basic principles of engineering
- Understands statistical concepts including trial design, data analysis, control charts, process capability and design of experiments to drive process improvements
- Maintain the ability to understand how to produce fiberglass including raw materials, processes and control systems
- Ability to communicate with and engage employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects at one time
- Ability to learn the principals of the basics of TPM
