Millwright/Fabricator
We have an open role for a Millwright/Fabricator (Equipment Machine Designer) on A shift (7:30am-3:30pm, M-F) in our Maintenance Department. This position bridges maintenance and production operations with designing custom tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machinery modifications to improve equipment reliability and safety.
ResponsibilitiesAbout the Role:
- The Mechanical Machine Builder is responsible for the assembly and mechanical integration of custom-built automated machinery and production systems
- This role focuses on fabricating, assembling, and installing mechanical components to ensure machines are built to design specifications and operate reliably
- The position works closely with engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions
- Assemble custom-built machinery according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Fabricate and install machine frames, panels, guards, moving components, and structural assemblies
- Work with extrusions, rivets, fasteners, and other mechanical hardware to complete assemblies
- Install mechanical subassemblies including bearings, conveyors, gears, and drive components
- Follow proper mechanical practices to ensure alignment, fit, and smooth operation of moving parts
- Assist with mechanical integration of pneumatic and servo-driven systems in coordination with other teams
- Ensure mechanical assemblies meet design tolerances, specifications, and quality standards
- Participate in mechanical inspections, functional testing, and verification prior to commissioning
- Provide on-site support for assembly, installation, and maintenance as required
- Work closely with engineering, project, and service teams to clarify mechanical requirements
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews and installation meetings as needed
- Support project timelines by collaborating with other trades to ensure timely completion of mechanical assemblies
Education:
Associates degree, trade school, vocational program, or equivalent technical experience relevant to this role.
Experience
Required:
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly of machinery or industrial equipment
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, and work instructions
- Experience with mechanical fasteners, bearings, conveyors, gears, and related components
- Strong use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assembly equipment
- Understanding of general manufacturing safety standards and mechanical best practices
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed to support installations or project deadlines
- Experience in MIG welding and fabrication of metal frames using blueprints
- Other welding types are a bonus (TIG aluminum and stainless)
- Familiar with lathe and mill
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional, and sometimes overtime and extended hours are required.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and with minimal supervision.
