Mobile Technician

Job Summary

As a Mobile Technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. Under routine supervision, this role works outside of the shop, servicing equipment at customer sites or rail yards using our mobile service truck.

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment.
• Diagnose and repair ABS systems.
• Operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory.
• Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees.
• Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations.
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
• Document damage to company equipment to estimate repair costs.
• Use cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment.
• Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs.
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision.

Sunday through Wednesday, 6:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Includes potential night and weekend shifts as needed.

• Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs.
  • At least 2 years of experience in semi‑tractor or semi‑trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, including military experience.
  • Clean motor vehicle record per company guidelines.
  • Own basic tools or ability to purchase through the toolbox purchase program.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Willingness to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • DOT certification in FHWA inspections and air brakes, with at least 1 year of inspection experience.
  • Welding certification.
  • Forklift certification and experience.
  • EPA 608 certification and refrigeration license.
  • Strong communication skills across various mediums.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient computer skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Physical ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Appropriate protective gear/PPE usage.

Starting pay range: $26.53–$33.16 per hour, based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. Eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volume as per company bonus and incentive plans.
