Ensure a warehouse culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost, using experience in warehouse operations to manage personnel and drive efficient operations by leading the associates they oversee. Focus on safe, accurate and timely receiving, storage and picking of inbound and outbound product.
Responsibilities- Lead with a safety mindset, champion safety procedures and training to create a safety‑first culture.
- Oversee and develop warehouse associates through coaching, training, and problem resolution.
- Create a cohesive organization, keep lines of communication open, and direct workforce to ensure efficient workflow.
- Direct and supervise associate productivity, drive engagement and retention, and embody US Foods values.
- Participate in building high‑performing teams through hiring, reviewing performance, coaching on productivity and safety targets, and delivering disciplinary action.
- Lead associates to achieve accurate orders, stage and load trucks, and prepare the warehouse for shipping or receiving on the next shift.
- Monitor operational information such as mis‑picks and productivity reports to meet rates and preferred methods.
- On day shift, designate dock locations, ensure product is stocked according to food safety and FIFO processes, monitor replenishment, and minimize shortages.
- Maintain physical condition and safety of warehouse and equipment, prepare work orders and requisitions for repairs.
- Identify inventory shrink sources, develop action plans, and recommend improvements to reduce expense and cost.
- Inspect facility for hazards, resolve or report them to the safety manager.
- Ensure Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and FSQA requirements are followed.
- Effectively schedule working shifts using planning tools such as Microsoft Excel.
- Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
Direct:
Union and/or non‑union warehouse on‑floor associates (loaders, selectors, receivers, forklift drivers, etc.)
- Internal:
Warehouse leaders and coworkers; internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales). - External: N/A.
Work takes place in normal warehouse environments as well as in cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as
-5 degrees.
- Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse distribution.
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce.
- Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- 10% travel required.
- High‑school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
- HACCP certification.
- PCQI certification.
