Supervisor, Financial Accounting

Fairfax Water seeks a Supervisor, Financial Accounting to lead core accounting operations for a mission-driven public utility. This role oversees general ledger activities, month-end close, and preparation of accurate financial statements that support safe, reliable water service. You will ensure compliance with GAAP and public-sector requirements, manage reconciliations, strengthen internal controls, and coordinate annual audits. Responsibilities

• Supervise financial accounting staff and daily accounting operations
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and public-utility financial regulations
• Manage account reconciliations and internal controls
• Coordinate annual audits and support external auditors
• Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and systems
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
