Job Description

General Description: The purpose of this position is to provide ENG/ESL administrative support to the division of Languages, Arts and Social Sciences at the Annandale campus. The administrative assistant helps to manage the day-to-day operation of the ENG/ESL office and help with other disciplines as needed.

Duties and Tasks
  • Performs routine office support activities
  • Provide customer service to students and division visitors
  • Answers phones and emails
  • Assist with contacting students following course changes and enrollment cancellations
  • Helps enroll students in classes and helps them understand their schedules
  • Provides administrative support to the ENG/ESL Administrative Assistant, Associate Dean and ENG/ESL faculty
  • May be required to maintain records and filing systems
  • Applies knowledge of basic office practices, procedures and equipment (customer service, telephone computer, copier)
  • Serves as first point of contact for the division if needed
  • Applies knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling and basic mathematics

  • Experience answering phones and emails

  • Proficiency in a foreign language
