Looking for a summer job that is fun, meaningful, and full of adventure? Step into a storybook summer at Merritt Academy, where campers (and counselors!) travel through time—from mystical pasts to imaginative futures—all while making unforgettable memories.
We’re looking for Counselors who bring great energy, creativity, and a love for working with kids to join our summer camp team. The Lead Counselor is responsible for engaging children in interactive activities including organized arts and crafts, singing, sports activities, games and field trips while maintaining a safe environment. This position will be responsible for planning daily camp activities for an assigned group of campers in a loving and safe environment.
Lead Counselors will attend field trips and special activities for the program, including daily swimming, assists with Junior Counselor Program, and are required to be in ratio in a rotating basis. The Lead Camp Counselor is responsible for performing all job tasks in a manner that exemplifies school standards of courtesy and values.

In order to be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements, including:
- A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Must be physically able to lift and carry a minimum of 45 pounds, engage in physical activity with children, and work indoors or outdoors.
- Must be able to constantly move and interact with the children to provide stimulation and develop relationships.
- Must be able to alternate often between sitting and standing.
- Must be able to maintain sight and sound of the children at all times.
- CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Pass pre-employment screenings and trainings as required.
