Job Description

PENDING CONTRACT AWARD

The Engineering Technician II at the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) will have a foundational understanding of instrumentation supporting the testing of weapon systems. In this role, you will contribute to the successful execution of test operations. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels in documentation, analysis, and team‑oriented environments, and who is committed to supporting high quality testing processes.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Data Acquisition and Analysis in support of Weapons Systems and Munitions Testing
  • Work cohesively with Government, Military, and fellow contractor personnel as a team member in a collaborative environment
  • Maintain test records, logs, and data
  • Provide technical input on current test planning, execution, and reporting activities
  • Point out deviations and provide recommendations for remediation
  • Note/observe equipment malfunctions
  • Observe and report safety hazards to onsite safety personnel
  • Apply scientific skill and knowledge gained from previous technical coursework or experience, on the job training, mentorship, and/or individual study
  • Review test documentation to assess adequacy, objectives and system test/system checkout procedures with respect to criteria based on appropriate military standards
  • Prepare Test Incident Reports (TIRs) documenting mission timeline
  • Record deviations from procedure and equipment failure/anomalies
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Monitor test events to assess test conformity with approved test plans
  • Provide updates where discrepancies are observed
  • Maintain logs (written and/or digital) to record equipment failure, data collection problems and deviations from planned procedures
  • Perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations
  • Follow standard work methods on recurring assignments but receive explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments
  • Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion and non‑routine work may be reviewed in progress
  • Follow specific instructions
  • Assemble or construct simple or standard equipment or parts
  • Service or repair simple instruments or equipment
  • Adjust and operate equipment
  • Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non‑standardized sources
  • Process the data following well‑defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry
  • Present the data in prescribed form
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with some vocational or technical training desired
  • Three (3) years of experience performing standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations, following standard work methods on recurring assignments but receiving explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments
  • Proven technical assembly and troubleshooting skills for standard test equipment
  • Ability to perform basic instrument repair and maintenance procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of testing procedures and data acquisition techniques relevant to T&E
  • Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data recording, equipment maintenance, and testing procedures within the T&E process
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively and train lower‑level technicians, ensuring technical standards are upheld throughout the teams
Preferred

Skills and Qualifications
  • Military experience
  • Prior experience working in a T&E environment
  • Involvement in testing and troubleshooting military‑grade systems
Physical Qualifications
  • The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment
  • Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to view the computer monitor for extended periods of time
  • Must be capable of lifting 25 lbs unassisted
