The Engineer, Junior at the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) independently evaluates, selects, adapts, and modifies standard techniques and criteria to plan and conduct engineering assignments. This role applies engineering principles, codes, and practices to support the RDT&E of weapons systems and works across multiple disciplines including control systems, electronics, power, instrumentation, signal processing, radio‑frequency, mechanical, and aerospace.
Duties and Responsibilities- Apply engineering principles, codes, and practices to support the RDT&E of weapons systems.
- Perform engineering tasks involving various disciplines such as control systems, electronics, power, instrumentation, signal processing, radio‑frequency, mechanical, and aerospace.
- Apply aerospace engineering principles and concepts to the test and evaluation of projectiles (guided and unguided).
- Coordinate with Data Acquisition Engineers to define instrumentation and measurement requirements to support data collection and analysis during test planning.
- Assist with the planning for and management of classified requirements and data collected above the Secret level.
- Perform project work utilizing engineering practices and policies, devising new approaches to resolve problems.
- Operate with general instructions in an independent mode, receiving guidance on special problems or when requested.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations and modifications.
- Provide independent and professional support on portions of complex projects.
- Review specific assignment objectives, approaches, and possible solutions for accuracy and completeness.
- Independently perform a project assignment that involves complex features and can be guided by codes, standards, and other precedents of the discipline.
- Analyze and/or evaluate the results of an analysis using techniques prescribed by senior engineers or supervisors.
- Accomplish tasks that require investigation of many variables.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
- Have at least three (3) years of experience in any work environment.
- Have experience working collaboratively as a member of a project team.
- Have a solid foundation in the principles and practices of aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or systems engineering.
- Demonstrate communication and teamwork skills essential for success in a T&E team environment.
- Demonstrate analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Prove ability to think critically and solve complex problems within the T&E process.
Skills and Qualifications
- Completed relevant internships or co‑op programs dealing with the concepts of T&E.
- Familiarity with specific engineering standards and regulations.
- The work is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment.
- Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to view a computer monitor for extended periods of time.
- Must be capable of lifting 25 lbs. unassisted.

- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
