Job Description

The Engineering Technician V performs nonroutine and complex assignments involving planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead Range Operations and Sustainment sub‑tasks and support test preparation and execution.
  • Serve in leadership roles for multiple mission areas including Range Operations Center, Safety, Explosive Materials Handling, Test Execution, Target Support, Marine Operations, preventive, corrective, and modification/modification maintenance, and Marine Maintenance.
  • Coordinate with personnel from related activities to resolve problems and manage work.
  • Review, analyze, and integrate technical work of others; ensure technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.
  • Apply project leadership and organizational skills, manage projects, resolve issues, promote accountability, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Develop data‑driven recommendations for process enhancements to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Train and supervise lower‑level technicians as needed.
  • Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment for range testing.
  • Conduct tests or experiments; analyze results; redesign or modify range and lab equipment and systems.
  • Prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, and procedures.
  • Plan or assist in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Facilitate range equipment modification to meet defined test requirements and procedures.
  • Support tests using all types of equipment and instruments.
  • Manage classified requirements and data collected above the Secret level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Associate’s degree, OR equivalent training/experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least nine (9) years of experience in non‑routine and complex assignments focused on test and evaluation (T&E).
  • Extensive technical design and development expertise related to T&E equipment and setups.
  • Advanced knowledge of test equipment and procedures with hands‑on ability to conduct and oversee diverse testing methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to resolve challenges in T&E processes and equipment.
  • Project management and leadership skills; ability to manage complete projects and segments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to train lower‑level technicians.
  • Strong technical acumen in instrumentation and methodologies related to T&E.
  • Experience with untried and untested measurement techniques.
  • Certifications related to specific areas of T&E equipment and technology (e.g., Certified Test Technician) desired.
Preferred
  • Military operations experience.
  • Experience designing and overseeing sophisticated test equipment such as advanced data‑logging systems or automation‑integrated T&E setups.
  • Involvement in testing and troubleshooting military‑grade systems.
Physical Qualifications
  • Work in an environmentally controlled office environment.
  • Ability to sit, enter data, and view a computer monitor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted.
  • Reasonable accommodation available to people with disabilities.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license without special restrictions.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
  • Must complete a background check.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim security clearance for the duration of employment.
