Overview
GFT is seeking a Chief Highway Engineer to join our Highway team. A flexible/hybrid work environment is applicable, with the reporting office being any of GFT's Maryland, Washington DC, or Virginia offices.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:
- Contribute to the development and execution of highway business plans, budgets and performance goals.
- Provide advice and direction to major proposals, risk assessment and mitigation plans, and project execution plans.
- Supervise staff and be responsible for key technical relationships with clients.
- Serve as a Chief Engineer or Strategist for large, complex, or strategic projects.
- May serve as Quality Assurance Manager.
- Contribute to corporate strategy, plans and programs.
- Develop scopes of work and provide input for negotiations on complex and/or large projects where multiple disciplines are involved and work is conducted across multiple offices and/or disciplines.
- Act as a technical specialist in the development of proposals.
- Manage multiple concurrent assignments and time effectively.
- Execute the project scope of work and manage the technical development of the work while maintaining the budget and schedule.
- Represent GFT at industry and professional events.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Strategic and technical leadership of the Highway component of major projects.
- Exercise technical oversight of a highway group.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor for Highway Design.
- Actively engage at a regional/national level in professional societies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required;
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred. - Professional Engineer License and ability to obtain multiple jurisdictions.
- 20+ years of applicable experience.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of advanced design software and advanced computational software applications.
- Experience with supervision of staff.
- Knowledge of multiple disciplines such as roadway, transit, bridge, geotechnical, and civil/site.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to lead client presentations.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $190,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
