Your expertise in hydraulic modeling and the use of industry standard software will be essential for your role.
Essential Functions
- Develop and deliver industry leading stormwater management strategies for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines
- Conduct drainage design activities, including the analysis of existing drainage systems, designing new drainage systems and ditches, and creating appropriate plans
- Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS to model major bridge and culvert crossings
- Employ software tools such as Pipesoft, Culvertsoft, to design and analyze pipe networks and culverts
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations related to drainage design and stormwater management, contributing to the project deliverables and progress reporting
- Prepare permit sketches, construction documents, specifications and cost estimates as needed
- Perform scour analysis
- Perform field investigations to collect data, take field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verify surveys
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a Civil Engineer supporting transportation projects
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
- Advanced knowledge of drainage design, H&H modeling and stormwater management
- Proficient with industry software:
Micro Station, SWMM, Civil3d, Inlet Soft, Pipe Soft, Culvert Soft - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience with Open Roads Designer, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS
- Experience supporting VDOT and other local Virginia agencies
